Following on from Voice for Life, the committee have planned more exciting events to take us through the year, fuller details of which will be sent to you as they are released:
For the young at heart, we have a Preparatory School Festival which will be held on 14 and 15 March at Assumption Convent, Malvern. Rob Stewardson will once again showcase the singing abilities of some of our Prep Schools, and we are sure that the children will have a wonderfully entertaining day.
The RSCM Northern Branch holds its AGM this year on Saturday 7April.
This will be followed by In Pastures Green with the 23rd Psalm, a project which we spoke of last year and which we are very glad to be presenting. Time and venue will be published shortly.
In mid-May, Rob Stewardson will be running a High School Festival, along the same lines as the Prep Festival, only using the extended talents of the older children. This is the first of what we hope will become an annual event and we are so grateful to have Rob leading the children with his usual enthusiasm.
Wassail in July – Ron Gill will be hosting this event which will warm the cockles of your heart while you sing along in Christmas style. St Martin’s school is the venue for this entertaining experience and the date and time will be announced later.
Sing For Joy – although this is not strictly speaking an RSCM event, I am posting it here because so many of our dear members are to be found singing lustily every year at St Dunstan’s Cathedral, Benoni. Malcolm and Janet Chalmers guide us in this social and singing event which lasts over a few Saturdays (for rehearsals), culminating in the presentation of a matinee and an evening show. Once the Sing for Joy Committee has finalised the dates, they will be announced and published here. I hope that many of you will join us.
Meet, Eat and Sing
Also known irreverently as Burp, Slurp and Chirp! This will be a great time to bring us all together for a good sing.
Join Rob Stewardson and Ron Gill
As we share together 'In Pastures Green' - a day with the 23rd Psalm.
This event will now be held in early 2018. We apologise for any inconvenience for postponing this event from late last year. We need to have a group of between 20 and 25 singers to make the event viable. Watch this space for details of the rescheduled date.
