Voice for Life Workshopin Vredenburg

On Sat 16 April 2016, Revd Stanley Brown welcomed 85 church choristers of all ages to St Monica's Anglican Church, Vredenburg, South Africa, for workshop on the acclaimed "Voice for Life" choir training and music reading system. Colleen Hart from the Cape Town branch of the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) introduced Voice for LIfe to everyone. She focusing on warm-ups and introduced some of the songs from the marvellous Voice for Life resource books.

Daniel Fritz and Cedric Williams (Chairperson of the Cape Town Branch) then took the choir leaders apart to do a basic conducting course.

All the members who attended were part of the very active Church Choir Association of the Diocese of Saldanha Bay. This active association incorporates choirs all the way from the Northern Cape to Cape Town, a distance of some 1000 kms!

The Chairperson of the Association, Lennie Davids, thanked everyone and said that the day was a historical first.

The way forward is to find sponsorship for the Voice for Life resources and 5 choirs to pilot the white level in this resource-scarce area.
